Nathan lives next door to Miss Sandy, a raptor rehabilitator. Nathan wishes he could help Miss Sandy with some of her chores, but he is confined to his wheelchair because of cerebral palsy. Then Fire, an owl with a broken wing, comes to Miss Sandy.

I have a brother and a sister with cerebral palsy. They both live with our father, and will until he dies.

Recently, I’ve been seeing and hearing an increasing number of commercials implying that cerebral palsy is a preventable condition caused my medical malpractice.

That can be true. But, those commercials are probably sponsored by lawyers looking for litigation. Cerebral palsy involves brain damage, and it can be caused by any number of factors. We do not belive my brother or my sister is the victim of medical malpractice.

I hope, when folks see and hear those commercial messages, they realize that we live in a litigous society, and research the facts about cerebral palsy.
