Mac Data Recovery After Disk Image Corruption
Do you store important data on your Mac system? Are you concerned about the safety of your valuable data? If ‘Yes’, then you should create an image of your hard drive for backup purposes. Backup is the easiest way to prevent data loss situations and need of Mac Data Recovery. Creating disk image in Mac OS X operating system is a quite easy and quick process, which safeguard your precious data against all types of data loss situations.
A disk image is in fact a file, which contains all of the files, directories, and even the structure of hard drive. It contains a sector-by-sector copy of entire hard drive and thus perfectly replicate the contents and structure of the drive. It is the most commanding way to create backup of your critical data stored on Mac OS X hard drive.
There are various file format that you can use for creating image of the hard drive in Mac OS X operating system and .DMG is one among them. The .DMG (Disk Image) file enables you to have file compression and password protection to serve both security and file distribution functions.
You can mount a .DMG file as a hard drive volume using Finder in Mac. The .DMG file can easily be created with the help of tools, which are including in Mac OS X operating system. On such tool is Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, 10.4 Tiger, 10.5 Leopard, and 10.6 Snow Leopard. The disk image file can also be managed using hdiutil utility in Mac.
Though, it is the best option to prevent data loss situations by creating image of the hard drive, however in some situations, you encounter below error message when you attempt to mount the disk image for accessing data from it:
“The disk image you are opening may be damaged and could damage your system. Are you sure you want to open this disk image?”
Mac operating system detects the corrupted disk image prior to mount it as the corrupted image can cause data loss. These situations prevent you from restoring data and need arise to Recover Mac File for fixing the problem.

If you have continued to use the Mac, then almost certainly not: the area on your hard disc where the deleted files were stored will have been overwritten with new files, possibly many times, since then.

Mac Data Recovery
Today, many people store lots of useful and valuable information in their computers. It can be memorable photos, favorite songs, emails, or reports and projects needed for school or work. And because of the many important data stored in the computer’s hard drives, you wouldn’t want to do something to erase those files. But sometimes, it just can’t be helped as hard drives can crash, servers can fail, and laptops can be accidentally dropped.
Fortunately, there is such a thing as data recovery. Data recovery is a process of recovering important information that was lost as a result of a computer crash, virus attack, or hard disk malfunction. In order to recover lost data, you can send your hard drives to companies that offer data recovery services. Depending on how extreme your situation is, the company can send you the recovered files in as fast as 3 working days. Although it is a bit costly, you are assured that only skilled professionals are handling your case. Another option is to buy or download a data recovery software to retrieve lost or partial data, and minimize damage brought upon to the system.
In the event that you lose data, the first thing you should remember is to avoid panicking. Refrain from aimlessly trying to retrieve the lost data by clicking several keys. This will only make things worse. What you can do to start Mac data recovery is to pause and go over your options carefully. Do not turn off or restart your computer, thinking that it can solve your problem. Another thing you shouldn’t do is surf the Internet to look for a data recovery Mac solution.
Doing all these will only cause your computer to use up the storage space occupied by your lost data. If you really have to look for a data recovery software for your mac, then it would help to use another computer. Also, refrain from running other unrelated and irrelevant programs.
Specifically, if you come across the error message “The disk is damaged do you want to initialize?” or “-127 error disk could not be used/found”, this indicates that the directory structure of your disk is damaged and therefore cannot be accessed. Generally, such damage occurs when a Mac freezes in the middle of the programs and has to be restarted, or if you failed to properly shut down the computer. In order to recover files lost by such cases, the Unerase program in Symantec’s Norton Utilities can be used. Just remember to choose a different drive for the destination of your recovered files, and not the crashed disk or any of its partitions.
Those are some tips you can do when you want to do Mac data recovery. Remember that if you lose data, the first thing you have to do is avoid panicking and opening several applications not related to data recovery. This could only cause your computer to replace the storage space formerly occupied by the lost data with newer data, and thus could be harder to recover. Not all hope is lost if you lose your data. Either you download a data recovery software of send your hard drive to experts.
