Cerebral Palsy

Day three hundred twenty-two/365.
I have a brother and a sister with cerebral palsy. They both live with our father, and will until he dies.

Recently, I’ve been seeing and hearing an increasing number of commercials implying that cerebral palsy is a preventable condition caused my medical malpractice.

That can be true. But, those commercials are probably sponsored by lawyers looking for litigation. Cerebral palsy involves brain damage, and it can be caused by any number of factors. We do not belive my brother or my sister is the victim of medical malpractice.

I hope, when folks see and hear those commercial messages, they realize that we live in a litigous society, and research the facts about cerebral palsy.

Yes, it could be normal for your leg to be sore from when you were pushed on the ground. However, I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.

Question by Chrissy! o.o: My best friend told me that he has “mutilated cerebral palsy”.?

I looked it up and all I’m finding is mental retardation. Well, he’s not freaking mentally retarded!!! I’m so aggravated that no one can find a better way to explain this, so what I’m asking is what’s a basic way to explain it?
What does it effect? Does it effect bodily functions? Is it fatal? Just everything that you know. And I don’t want a link about it, I just want answers

Mutilated? I’ve got a form of CP and I’ve never heard of Mutilated type. My CP effects my leg muscles so I can’t walk very far stand long, really bad balance, my motor skills can sometimes be a bit off, and apparently I have little peripheral vision, but CP is from birth so I’ve never seen things differently. My leg muscles pull me down so I usually sit or walk with a curved back, I have to think to get it straight.

It depends on type, some people are weak only in the legs, some in their arms, some on their left side or right side, it can be a combination or all the limbs. Swallowing and speech can also effected. And sometimes it’s coupled with other disabilities. It’s caused by something happening to the brain during birth. Wheelchairs, walkers can be used if it’s severe, even the most mild cases often have a noticeable difference in walking. AFO’s can be worn. I wear AFOs on my ;egs and was forced to use a walker at school only, nowhere else do I take it.

There’s no cure, stretching muscles is the most common way to minimize the impact, if you stop the muscles will tightedefiantlyen told by therapists, I’ve also had Botox injection in my leg muscles to loosen them for a few months and cereal casting done for a few months to give the leg a “constant streach” as long as the cast is on.

It’s fatal, and it’s not supposed to be heridetary but I’m 17 so I can’t say that from expirence yet.

Ask him for the formal type name. Wikipedia isn’t ideal for serious research but can be a good starting point.
